Going Digital: A Parish Administrator's First 30 Days

Going digital sounds like a large project. In practice, a parish can move from notebooks to a working system in a few weeks if it starts small and brings people along.

Week 1: decide what matters most

  • Choose the two or three tasks that cost the most time today.
  • Name one person to lead and one to support.
  • Tell the parish council and the priest what will change, and what will not.

Week 2: bring in your families

Start with the family list. Gather what you already have, in whatever form, and bring it into one place. Do not aim for perfect. Aim for good enough to be useful.

Week 3: add one service families will notice

People support what helps them. Pick one visible improvement, such as parish announcements on their phones or easier giving, so the community feels the benefit early.

Week 4: train, review and keep going

  • Walk each office-bearer through the part they use.
  • Ask for feedback and fix small things quickly.
  • Plan the next module, such as sacrament records or catechism.

What to avoid

  • Trying to move everything at once.
  • Waiting for perfect data.
  • Introducing it without explaining why.

A good partner will handle the heavy lifting of setup and training, so your team can stay focused on the parish.
